Voter Identification Requirements

All Michigan voters who vote in-person must comply with the requirement by showing a picture identification or signing an affidavit attesting that he or she is not in possession of a picture identification.

Voters can satisfy the ID requirements by showing a Michigan driver's license or a Michigan personal identification card. Voters who do not possess either document may show any of the following forms of picture ID as long as it is current.

Current driver's license or personal ID card issued by another state

Current operator's or chauffeur's licenser

Current federal, state, or local government issued photo ID

Current US passport

Current military identification card with photo

Current student identification with photo from an educational institution

Voters who do not have an acceptable picture identification or forgot to bring acceptable picture identification, can vote like any other voter by signing an affidavit stating that the voter is not in possession of identification.
