Meet the Board
John Lazet, Supervisor
John Lazet was elected Supervisor in November 2020. Previously he served as a Township Trustee for four years, served on the Planning Commission for 16 years, and on the Compensation Commission for 4 years.
He has lived in Vevay Township for over thirty years with his wife Laura and two daughters. He has a degree in Chemistry and a Master’s degree in Administration. Professionally, he taught Chemistry for 8 years, had his own painting business, and worked for over 28 years in the State Senate, focused on Judiciary Committee, crime victims’ rights, and state budgets. He then moved to the executive branch and was the statewide Director of Crime Victim Advocacy for the Attorney General. Retired in 2018, he is looking forward to continuing to serve the residents of Vevay Township in his new capacity as Supervisor.

JoAnne Kean, Clerk
JoAnne Kean was elected Clerk in 2010. She was born in Corsicana Texas, the eighth of ten children, and moved to Michigan in 1971. She has been a Vevay Township resident since 2002.
JoAnne completed a three-year intensive course to earn the “Certified Michigan Municipal Clerk” certification in 2014 and continues to participate in ongoing education from the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks to retain her certification. She currently serves as Ingham County Director of the Capital Area Municipal Clerks Association and Secretary for the Ingham County Chapter of the Michigan Townships Association.
JoAnne worked for Ingham County in the Human Resources and Health Department for ten years before joining the Vevay Township Clerk’s office.
When JoAnne is not at the Township, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She enjoys taking speedy golf cart rides with her son on their property, tailgating at MSU football games with her husband, and keeping up-to-date on the latest Star Wars news with her daughter.
Christopher Lewis, Treasurer
Chris has lived in Vevay Township with his wife Diane for 20 years. He served as chairperson of both the township Compensation Commission and Planning Commission before being appointed Treasurer in April of 2021.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Grand Valley State University and has served as an ‘Alumni Champion’ on several major fundraising initiatives. The university recognized Chris’ contributions by presenting him with its annual Service Award and Football Alumnus of the Year Award. He is an active member of the GVSU Football Alumni Board.

Chris has been a member of the Michigan Bar since 1999 and in 2006 was admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court in Michigan’s Eastern District. While studying at Thomas M. Cooley Law School, he served as Associate Editor of the Law Review.
​
Before becoming Treasurer, Chris had more than 20 years of managerial experience including 15 years as a Human Resources Manager and Director in both government and private business.

Richard Lacasse, Trustee
Richard Lacasse was re-elected Trustee in November of 2020, and also serves on the Zoning Board of Appeals. He has also served on the Planning Commission and the Board of Review. Richard has been a Vevay Township Resident for over 15 years. Richard earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Northern Michigan University, as well as a Juris Doctor and Master of Law Degrees from the University of Missouri School of Law-Kansas City. During his career Richard worked as a land resource planner and a Michigan Administrative Law Judge.

In his free time, Richard enjoys gardening, hunting and exploring the great outdoors of his birthplace in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Pattie McNeilly, Trustee
Pattie McNeilly was elected Trustee in November 2020. She was appointed to the Planning Commission in 2014, where she has served as Chairperson since 2017. As Trustee, Pattie will continue to serve on the Planning Commission as a liaison to the Board of Trustees. Pattie and her husband of 36 years, Kevin, have been Vevay Township residents for nearly 30 years, where they raised two sons. Pattie and Kevin share ownership in a family operated business, Spartan Barricading & Traffic Control Inc., along with Kevin’s brother and his wife. Previously located in Delhi Township for 39 years, they were very happy to have the opportunity to move the business to Vevay Township in 2016. Prior to joining the family business in 2005 as the Accounting and Contract Manager, Pattie worked as a licensed Property/Casualty Insurance Agent, with several years of experience working in both private agency and corporate underwriting positions.
Pattie looks forward to family time spent with her husband, their sons and their wives. Together they enjoy golfing, boating and visiting the sand dunes on Lake Michigan.
